IB School Fees in Dubai (2026)
The International Baccalaureate is Dubai’s premium curriculum — and its most expensive. IB schools charge for what the programme demands: specialist teachers, small Diploma classes, and external IBO exam fees on top of tuition. But the range is wider than most parents expect, and the cheapest full-continuum IB school costs less than a mid-range British one. This guide maps real 2026 fees, school by school.
The short answer
IB school tuition in Dubai spans roughly AED 29,000 to AED 118,000 per child per year. Full-continuum IB schools (PYP through Diploma) cluster at AED 45,000–90,000; the Diploma years (Grades 11–12) are always the most expensive band at any school; and bilingual/premium flagships top AED 100,000. Good news for planning: the KHDA froze all private-school tuition for the 2026–27 academic year, so published fees are locked in.
Why the Diploma years cost more
At every IB school, Grades 11–12 are the priciest band. Four reasons:
- Specialist teachers and smaller classes for the two-year Diploma Programme
- IBO exam fees — charged by the IB organisation itself, roughly US$120 per subject (~US$700–1,000 for a full diploma), billed separately from tuition
- Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge supervision
- Dedicated university counselling for final-year applications

Value IB: AED 29,000–55,000 a year
Full IB continuum without the flagship price:
- Emirates International School, Meadows — from around AED 28,990, rated Outstanding. The cheapest full-continuum IB in Dubai — and Outstanding-rated.
- GEMS United School — from around AED 39,000. Budget IB entry.
- Greenfield International School, DIP (Taaleem) — around AED 34,470–82,865, rated Very Good. Full IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP, CP).
Mid-premium: AED 45,000–90,000 a year
- Dubai International Academy, Emirates Hills — around AED 44,979–79,696, rated Outstanding. The UAE’s first IB World School; Diploma years AED 79,696.
- GEMS International School, Al Khail — around AED 52,415–79,488, rated Good. (Note: some online guides wrongly call it Outstanding — KHDA says Good. Still strong value for full IB.)
- Deira International School, Festival City — around AED 44,616–89,889, rated Outstanding. British curriculum with an IB Diploma pathway — a good hybrid for families hedging between systems.
Premium: AED 69,000–118,000 a year
- Nord Anglia International School, Al Barsha — around AED 69,625–105,288, rated Outstanding. British curriculum to Year 11 with IB offered in Sixth Form alongside A-Levels (not a full IB continuum — the IB here is a Sixth-Form option).
- Swiss International Scientific School (SISD), Al Jaddaf — around AED 68,868–118,400 (day, including VAT, per the school’s official fee page), rated Very Good. Full IB continuum with bilingual English/French/German streams; boarding available at around AED 240,747. Dubai’s most expensive IB day fees.
What the tuition figure does not include
Budget on top, per child per year:
- Application fee: capped by KHDA at AED 500 (refundable if no place is offered)
- Registration deposit: up to 10% of annual tuition — deductible from Term 1, not an extra charge
- IB/BTEC exam registration fees: explicitly excluded from tuition (budget ~US$700–1,000 for the full Diploma)
- School bus: typically AED 3,700–8,500 a year
- Uniforms, books, meals: varies; SISD includes books and internal activities, most schools don’t
- Trips: IB field trips and CAS activities can run into thousands
IB vs other curricula at a glance
| Curriculum | Annual fee range (AED) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| IB | 29,000–118,000 | Premium; Diploma years dearest |
| British | 15,000–110,000+ | Widest choice |
| American | 9,000–102,000 | Mid-range strength |
| Indian (CBSE/ICSE) | 5,000–74,000 | Cheapest overall |
The IB suits globally mobile families targeting competitive universities worldwide — its Diploma is recognised everywhere with no “home country” bias. If your family may return to the UK specifically, compare British A-Levels (often cheaper); if US-bound, compare AP.
Choosing the right IB school for your family
- Continuum vs pathway matters. A full-continuum school (Greenfield, DIA, SISD) teaches IB methods from age 3; a pathway school (Deira, Nord Anglia) bolts the Diploma onto a British/American base. Neither is automatically better — but know which you’re buying.
- Don’t overpay for the label. EIS Meadows is Outstanding-rated full IB from ~AED 29,000. Price and quality don’t correlate neatly in this market.
- Verify the rating yourself. At least two widely-shared online guides mislabel schools’ KHDA ratings (GEMS International Al Khail is Good, not Outstanding). The free KHDA fact sheet is authoritative.
- Budget the Diploma separately. Between higher tuition and ~US$700–1,000 in IBO exam fees, the final two years can cost 30–50% more than primary.
IB vs A-Levels vs AP: choosing the track
Many Dubai schools offer multiple Sixth-Form tracks. How to choose:
- IB Diploma: best for globally mobile families and competitive universities worldwide; heaviest workload (six subjects + Extended Essay + Theory of Knowledge + CAS); most expensive in exam fees
- A-Levels: best for UK-targeted students; deeper specialisation in 3–4 subjects; usually cheaper than IB at the same school
- AP: best for US-targeted students; flexible — take as many or as few AP exams as you like; lowest exam cost per subject
At dual-pathway schools like Deira International or Nord Anglia, ask for the all-in cost comparison of each track before choosing — the IB route can cost several thousand dirhams more per year once exam fees are included.
Bilingual IB: the SISD model
Swiss International Scientific School deserves a special note: it’s Dubai’s only bilingual IB continuum, with English/French and English/German streams alongside the English+ track. Bilingual streams cost more (Pre-KG AED 68,868 bilingual vs 62,900 English+), but graduates leave genuinely bilingual — a real edge for European university applications. If your family speaks French or German at home, price the bilingual stream specifically; aggregator sites often quote only the cheaper English+ figure.
Is IB worth the premium? An honest assessment
The IB’s reputation is deserved — but so is its price tag. Consider:
- Worth it when: your family is genuinely globally mobile (3+ potential university countries), your child thrives on breadth and independent research, or you’re targeting the world’s most selective universities where the Diploma’s Extended Essay signals readiness
- Questionable when: your university target is single-country (UK → A-Levels are cheaper and deeper; US → AP is more flexible), your child struggles with workload volume, or the premium strains the family budget — a stressed family undermines the education the premium was meant to buy
- The middle path: dual-pathway schools let you decide at 16, not at 4. Enrol for the primary years on cost and fit; choose the Diploma, A-Levels or AP when the university picture clarifies
The most expensive mistake isn’t choosing the “wrong” curriculum — it’s paying a 40% premium for a Diploma your child’s university never required.

Roughly AED 29,000–118,000 per child per year. Full-continuum IB clusters at AED 45,000–90,000; the Diploma years (Grades 11–12) are the most expensive band everywhere, reaching AED 118,400 at SISD.
What is the cheapest IB school in Dubai?
Emirates International School (Meadows) — full IB continuum from around AED 28,990, and KHDA Outstanding-rated. GEMS United School (from ~AED 39,000) is the next cheapest entry.
Why do IB Diploma years cost more?
Smaller classes, specialist subject teachers, Extended Essay supervision, university counselling — plus IBO exam fees (~US$120/subject, ~US$700–1,000 total) billed separately from tuition.
Are IB school fees frozen in 2026?
Yes. KHDA froze all Dubai private-school tuition for the 2026–27 academic year — no school may raise tuition. Transport, uniforms, meals, trips and IBO exam fees are not covered by the freeze.
Is IB better than British A-Levels in Dubai?
For globally mobile families targeting universities in multiple countries, the IB Diploma’s worldwide recognition is unmatched. For UK-specific plans, A-Levels are often cheaper and equally respected. Compare the Diploma premium (~30–50% over primary fees) against your actual university targets.
What’s the difference between full IB and an IB pathway?
Full-continuum schools teach IB programmes from early years through the Diploma. Pathway schools (e.g. Deira International, Nord Anglia) run a British or American curriculum with the IB Diploma offered as a Sixth-Form option. Check which model a school uses before comparing fees.
